In response to growing public awareness of occupational safety and health (OSH) issues, the Department of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH) at the China Medical University was founded and approved by the Ministry of Education in 1997. As a pioneer to establish B.S. degree program in the field of OSH within a medical university, the DOSH is committed to integrate all possible resources towards providing comprehensive undergraduate-level education and training in occupational safety and health sciences. Building upon the fruitful undergraduate program, since 2004 and 2011, the DOSH has begun to offer approved on-campus and on-job/on-campus (OJ/OC) M.S. degree program, in which students can major in occupational safety or occupational health. Both of our B.S and M.S. programs have received a 5-year certificate of accreditation from the Higher Education of Evaluation and Accreditation Council in Taiwan (HEEACT) in 2010. With these academic programs, the DOSH strives to ensure that graduates are qualified to pursue careers and assume leadership roles in the modern practice of OSH and, through research, and to develop new methods or technologies for anticipating, identifying, assessing, and controlling workplace hazards.
